About Us
According to Decree 31/2018 of May 25 by the Council of Ministers, which updates the legal framework of Maputo Central Hospital (HCM), its competencies include patient care, participation in the teaching and learning process for healthcare professionals, and conducting scientific research in health and related fields, in alignment with the strategies and policies of the Ministry of Health (MISAU). The organizational structure of HCM includes the General Directorate, Clinical Directorate, Nursing Directorate, Scientific and Pedagogical Directorate (DCP), and Administrative Directorate. The DCP is responsible for coordinating undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuous education in all healthcare fields, as well as scientific research activities. To ensure that the DCP effectively and efficiently carries out its functions, the Clinical Research and Training Center (CPT) of HCM was established. The Center is dedicated to conducting scientific research and clinical trials with efficiency and safety, as well as promoting the training of healthcare professionals to empower them in implementing their activities with quality (in healthcare facilities and communities).

Organizational Structure
The CPCT has a functional structure supported by the DCP to implement the activities assigned to it and includes two main areas of operation: the scientific area and the pedagogical area. The scientific area is supported by the Hospital's Scientific Committee, an IT team, and a Data Management and Analysis team. The pedagogical area is supported by various training coordination groups within the Hospital. An administrative team is integrated to support the CPCT as a whole. The CPCT is part of the DCP's organizational chart and has the following organizational/functional structure:
- The Scientific and Pedagogical Director
- The Center's Coordination – comprised of a coordinator for the scientific area and another for the pedagogical area, representing it on all occasions
- The Scientific Committee (SC) – Composed of a group of professionals with academic and scientific qualifications representing all sectors of the Hospital, this will be the advisory body for the Director of the CP and for defining the operation of the Center
- The Cooperation and Training Unit (CTU) – responsible for communication and establishing connections with external and internal entities to the CP, organizing training, managing libraries, disseminating results, and activities related to research result transfer
- The IT Unit (IU) – responsible for creating and maintaining an IT infrastructure for the operation of the Center and for the creation and management of the research database
- The Biostatistics Unit (BU) – responsible for the individualized monitoring of research design and data collection instruments, and assisting with data analysis
- The Administrative Unit (AU) – comprised of staff responsible for the overall operation of the CP and ensuring the administrative processes of the Center.
